The mountains ringing the Columbia Basin will accumulate impressive amounts of snow during this period. The valleys also have the potential to experience heavy snow accumulations. ...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT...
* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute on Friday. Total valley snow accumulations of 8 to 13 inches possible, with mountain accumulations of 2 to 3 feet.
* WHERE...Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry, Priest River, Eastport, Schweitzer Mountain Road, Kellogg, Pinehurst, Osburn, Wallace, Mullan, Fourth of July Pass, Dobson Pass, Lookout Pass, Colville, Deer Park, Chewelah, Newport, Kettle Falls, Springdale-Hunters Road, Orin-Rice Road, Flowery Trail Road, Republic, Incheli um, Wauconda, Chesaw Road, Highway 20 Wauconda Summit, Boulder Creek Road, Sherman Pass, Leavenworth, Mazama, Twisp, Winthrop, Stehekin, Conconully, Blewett Pass, and Loup Loup Pass.
* WHEN...Steady light snow will begin Thursday morning...briefly taper off late Thursday night and then return aggressively on Friday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Significant reductions in visibility are possible. Travel across mountain passes may be very difficult or impossible for periods of time during this event.
