Alert: Avalanche Warning until 05:00AM Wednesday
BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WARNING THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE FOREST SERVICE IDAHO PANHANDLE AVALANCHE CENTER. THE FOREST SERVICE IDAHO PANHANDLE AVALANCHE CENTER IN SANDPOINT HAS ISSUED A BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WARNING.

* TIMING...IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM PST FEBRUARY 12th TO 5 AM PST WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 13TH.

* AFFECTED AREA...SELKIRK CABINET MOUNTAINS...SILVER VALLEY LOOKOUT PASS...KOOTENAY CABINET MOUNTAINS.

* AVALANCHE DANGER... THE AVALANCHE DANGER WILL RISE TO HIGH TODAY AND INTO WEDNESDAY.

* REASON/IMPACTS...RECENT HEAVY SNOW COMBINED WITH WIND WILL CREATE WIDESPREAD AREAS OF UNSTABLE SNOW. PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...AVALANCHES MAY RUN LONG DISTANCES, INTO FLAT AREAS. BEWARE OF ANY AREAS STEEPER THAN 30 DEGREES. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED. THIS WARNING DOES NOT APPLY TO LOCAL SKI AREAS WHERE REGULAR AVALANCHE CONTROL IS PERFORMED.
