Fleming Creek Fire Update

Location: North of Fleming Creek Road, 9 miles north of Bonners Ferry, ID

Recent Fire Activity: Yesterday’s activity consisted of air tankers and helicopters dropping water to cool hotspots. Dozers created line around a portion of the fire’s perimeter. Today, hand crews and dozers will build additional fireline and strengthen existing fireline. Helicopters and air tankers are making water drops as needed.

The fire is burning on industrial timberland and other private lands north of Fleming Creek Road and west of Lupine Road.

Fire management will transition today to an Idaho interagency Type 3 Incident Management Team.

Weather: Cooler temperatures and higher relative humidity is expected in the fire area today. Day temperatures are predicted to be about 73 degrees, with light to moderate southwest winds. Relative humidity is predicted to be 32%-42%.

Evacuations and Road Closures:
• Evacuations have occurred on Holmes Rd, Lupine Rd and Ginger Ln.
• Residents on Turner Hill Rd and Rocking Tree Rd should be prepared to evacuate.
• No structures have been lost at this time. A Red Cross shelter is at Mountain Springs Church, 6789 Main Street, Bonners Ferry.
• Holmes Road off of Highway 95 is closed to anyone other than local residents.
• Fleming Creek Road is closed at the north end of District 5 Road and to the east of the fire.

Despite the cooler temperatures, the conditions in the forests are still very dry. Use caution and adhere to all restrictions to help us protect our forests and keep the public and our firefighters safe.
