BOUNDARY COUNTY
Emergency Management

Press Release 9-22-17

Ken Homik, Fire Warden Kootenai Valley FPD reports:
With the continued cool and moist weather we’ve had this week, we are lowering fire danger to Moderate and will begin issuing burn permits for residential yard waste, and other forms of burning on a case-by-case basis.
Rain totals for Boundary County since Sunday 9/17 are: BF Airport .86; Myrtle Creek SNOTEL .9; Saddle Pass 1.42; Deer Creek 1.63. It’s still quite dry under the canopy, so we are emphasizing using caution when burning.
It looks like it will go back to seasonally warm and dry starting over the weekend, but at this point in the year we are hopeful things won’t dry out enough to be problematic.
Always be careful with fire and call 911 immediately if needed and state name, location, and incident.
