Boundary County started the site certification for the Boundary County Municipal Landfill in 1995. Through this process Boundary County fell under the small community exemption. Through this exemption the County can bury twenty tons of refuse a day which is averaged annually.

This site certification was through the Panhandle Health District and the Department of Environmental Quality and included the use of forty total acres of land.

Our landfill is open seven days a week, 7:30 AM to 6 PM. The three monitored collection sites in the County are open seven days a week, 9 AM to 5 PM.
All sites are closed for the ten National Holidays

All locations have separation systems for wood, metal, furniture, recycling, and general household garbage. Please be involved and separate these items into the appropriate location.

The current status and plan for the Boundary County Municipal Landfill is to go forward with reductions of disposal material going into the landfill by use of recycling and separation of waste products.

The residents in Boundary County are solely responsible for the longevity of the landfill by supporting recycling and separation of waste and have done a good job doing their part at the collection sites.

Going forward we can all do a little better on our recycling and separation of waste to insure the continued use of the Boundary County Municipal Landfill, remember it’s not all just garbage.
